Founded on November 3, 1984, Southeast Fuels, Inc. is a major marketer of bituminous coal headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina. Southeast Fuels is one of only a few minority-owned coal marketing companies servicing the Eastern region of the United States.

Ralph K. Shelton had a goal to sell coal to industrial firms in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. He worked diligently to develop several strategic producer-broker relationships, specifically with small coal producers in West Virginia, Virginia and Kentucky. After making his first sale to a local textile company, in five short years, Southeast Fuels’ business increased tremendously.   Since that initial sale in 1985, Southeast Fuels has grown to be a very stable and successful company.  

Additionally, Southeast Fuels is committed to playing an active role in community endeavors across North Carolina with the emphasis of improving the lives of its residents.
